What to expect

Your The Perfect Derma™ Peel visit

  1. Assessment and priming

We confirm you are a suitable candidate and, for pigmentation, start you on a preparatory routine for two to four weeks. Skipping this step is how peels cause the problem they were meant to fix.

  2. Application

Skin is degreased, then the solution is brushed on in layers. You will feel tingling and warmth for a few minutes. The whole appointment is short.

  3. Days one to two

Skin looks tight, slightly bronzed and mostly normal. It is tempting to think nothing is happening. Do not exfoliate or pick.

  4. Days three to six, then review

Peeling begins in earnest — moisturise, protect from sun, and let it come away on its own. Pulling at loose skin causes marks. We review at four weeks and decide whether to repeat.

The science

Why it works

This is a medium-depth peel, and that distinction matters. It blends trichloroacetic acid, salicylic acid, retinoic acid, kojic acid, phenol and vitamin C with glutathione — a potent antioxidant that also interrupts melanin production, which is why the formulation is used for pigmentation problems rather than only for texture. Unlike a light lunchtime peel, it reaches the depth at which stubborn melasma, post-inflammatory marks and acne scarring actually live.

The trade-off is honest peeling. Very little happens for two days, then the skin sheds visibly for three to four days, and by day seven you look distinctly better than when you started. We say this plainly at booking because patients who are not warned tend to panic on day three, and because you need to plan it around work and events rather than discover it afterwards.

For pigmentation, and especially for melasma, we prepare skin first. Two to four weeks on a pigment-stabilising routine before peeling meaningfully reduces the risk of the treatment triggering the very hyperpigmentation you came to have removed. In deeper skin tones this preparation is not optional, and we will not skip it to fit an earlier date.

Questions

The Perfect Derma™ Peel questions

Noticeable. Days three to six involve sheets of skin coming away, particularly around the mouth and nose. It is not painful, but it is visible enough that most patients plan it for a quiet week. Anyone describing this peel as having no downtime is not being straight with you.
